A New Student Extravaganza will be held from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Cleburne ISD Central Offices, 505 N. Ridgeway Drive, for students who did not attend Cleburne Schools in 2021-22.
The Enrollment Extravaganza includes Pre-K through 12th grade. Representatives from each CISD campus as well as child nutrition, special education and transportation will be on hand to answer questions and assist with the registration process.
A vaccination clinic will also be available from 7 a.m. to noon for students who are not up to date with their required vaccinations.
“We have been conducting online registration for students who will be new to our district since April,” Assistant Superintendent of Student Services Tammy Bright said. “The Enrollment Extravaganza gives parents of new students an in-person opportunity to enroll their child for the upcoming school year.
“It also gives us the chance to welcome and get to know students and parents who are new to CISD. We will have plenty of staff on hand to help parents through the various registration steps.
Pre-kindergarten is available for children who will be 4 years old by September 1st. A full day of pre-k is offered at all CISD elementary campuses for students who meet state eligibility standards, with a tuition-based program also available.
According to Texas Education Agency guidelines, state-funded pre-k is offered to students with low English proficiency, eligible for the free/discounted lunch program, homeless, or currently/have been supported by the Department of Family and Protective Services. Children with a parent who is on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces or who has received the Star of Texas award are also eligible.
The ICAD tuition-based pre-k is $3,850 for the 2022-2023 school year and can be paid in monthly installments of $385 over a ten-month period.
Students who will be 5 years old on or before September 1 are eligible for kindergarten.
Parents/guardians are requested to bring their students with them to the registration event with a certified copy of their child’s birth certificate, social security card, current immunization record, and a proof of residency such as a utility bill or rental agreement.
Parents are requested to bring their driver’s license/photo ID. Parents enrolling their child in pre-k per state eligibility guidelines must also bring proof of income in the form of two current pay stubs from each earner in the household.
The vaccination clinic will be conducted by Passport Health/Staying Healthy Medical Services. Parents/guardians should bring a printed copy of their child’s current immunization record or a note from their school indicating that one or more missing immunizations are required.
For insured families, a paper copy of the insurance card and driver’s license must be provided to receive the vaccines free of charge. Families covered by Medicaid or CHIP will receive vaccines for free; a copy of their benefits card must be provided.
Vaccines will also be available for $10. Payments can only be made in cash or by check; invoices over $20 will not be accepted.
