Miles College receives financial support from students in the regions

FAIRFIELD, AL – Miles College announced on Monday that it has received a $ 250,000 grant from the Regions Foundation to help cover student tuition and pay for scholarship opportunities as students continue their education at Miles.

The Fondation des Régions is a non-profit initiative which is mainly funded by the Banque des Régions. The Foundation provides grants that prioritize more inclusive prosperity, including through education and workforce preparation.

The $ 250,000 grant will not only support current students, but also students who attended Miles College in or before fall 2019 and wish to return, but still have outstanding student balances.

“I am grateful for the continued support that the Regions Foundation has given to Miles College,” said Miles College President Bobbie Knight. “This investment in our students has given them the ability to come back and complete their degrees without worrying about past balances.”

The Miles grant is similar in size and scope to the grants provided by the Regions Foundation to additional HBCUs this semester.

“The Regions Foundation is committed to advancing educational opportunities for students in our communities while removing barriers to success,” said Marta Self, Executive Director of the Regions Foundation. “These obstacles often include financial challenges in obtaining a degree, and our goal is to use the resources of the foundation in a way that gives more students the opportunity to complete their studies and pursue rewarding careers. . For over 100 years, Miles College has prepared students to excel at the college and professional levels. This Foundation of the Regions grant will have a significant impact on students as they pursue and achieve successful and rewarding careers. “
