KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) – The Kearney Public School District has selected the person who will take on the role of Director of Student Services and Safety for KPS.
Dr. Dan Endorf was selected beginning in the 2022-2023 school year. He is currently Superintendent of North Bend Central Public Schools.
“Dr. Endorf is the perfect person for this position,” says Jason Mundorf, associate superintendent of KPS and recently appointed superintendent of 22-23 KPS. “Dr. Endorf is a decorated administrator who has been a leader for many years in various school systems. We are delighted to welcome him to the KPS District Administration team. He will be a collaborative leader who understands the tasks he is responsible for leading. Dr. Endorf has a proven track record and will work with district leaders and staff, as well as community agencies and stakeholders, to meet the diverse needs of our students. He will closely monitor the safety and security of the neighborhood. Dr. Endorf will be a great addition to KPS and we welcome him and his family!
Endorf said Kearney has a world-class education system in a community as good as you’ll find in Nebraska.
“School safety is and will continue to be a priority in every school district across the country,” Endorf said. “With approximately 6,500 students and staff relying on us every day, it is extremely important to be proactive and prepared when it comes to safety protocols.”
Dr. Endorf has served as Superintendent of North Bend Central since 2010 and Adjunct Professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Prior to that, he was Director of District Services at York Public Schools (09-10), Principal of York Secondary School (05-09), Vice-Principal at Waverly Secondary School (99-05) , teacher and coach at Waverly High School. School (97-99), and teacher and coach at Omaha Central High School (96-97).
“My heart had the students in mind when I became a teacher; this position gives me the opportunity to focus on the whole student experience taking into account all the particularities and unique characteristics of each student,” said Dr. Endorf.
Dr. Endorf earned his Ph.D. in Educational Administration, a Masters in Educational Administration, and a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. His professional affiliations include the Nebraska Association of School Administrators (Chair, Region II), the Nebraska School Activities Association, and the Nebraska State Association of Secondary School Principals as well as others. He was Nebraska Rural Community Schools Association State Superintendent of the Year (2019) and Nebraska State Veterans of Foreign Wars Volunteer of the Year (2019). He is an active member of the North Bend community including the Chamber of Commerce, the Optimists Club, various youth sports groups and St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
Endorf and his wife Sharon have three children: daughter Ella, a senior at the University of Mississippi; son Austin, a sophomore at Nebraska Wesleyan; and her son Asher, who will be attending Kearney High School next fall.
