Agents from the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun, killed a student from Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo.
The student has been identified as Alayori Folarera Ademola.
He was shot by members of Amotekun’s corps, who invaded an area of students around the school last week.
Sources told SaharaReporters that the deceased was rushed to Owo Federal Medical Center where he died on Thursday evening.
“Amotekun destroyed their villa and this guy got shot. He was taken to FMC but died last night,” the source told SaharaReporters on Friday.
It was learned that security officers also killed another person in the town during the operation, but the identity of the deceased could not be established at the time of this report.
Another source added, “This set of useless Amotekun (staff) came to Owo to kill a member of my church; so far none of them have been arrested.
Chairman of the Joint Campus Committee of the National Association of Nigerian Students in Ondo State, Omotosho Surprise, confirmed Ademola’s death to SaharaReporters.
Omotosho said the association would no longer tolerate the barbarity and lack of professionalism of Amotekun agents.
The security team was recently accused of randomly checking cell phones and laptops of state residents.
They also reportedly arrested unlicensed drivers and confiscated tinted unlicensed vehicles.
