The City of Bloomington’s Department of Housing and Neighborhood Development and the Housing and Eviction Prevention Project will host a tenant resource fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 21, according to a news release. The fair will take place in Room 115 of the Town Hall Council Chamber.
The event will include representatives from IU, government agencies and community organizations to answer questions and provide information about tenant resources.
Attendees will learn how to prevent evictions and access services such as the City’s rental home inspection program, parking permits, garbage and recycling. Other topics will include rental and emergency utility assistance, down payment assistance, fair housing law, and tenant rights and responsibilities.
Organizations at the fair include Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority, Bloomington Housing Authority, South Central Community Action Program, Community Justice and Mediation Center, Indiana University Student Legal Services, and Monroe County Apartment Association.
Bloomington Township Administrator Kim Alexander, Perry Township Administrator Susie Day, State Senator Shelli Yoder and Sustainable Communities Consultant Deborah Myerson will also be attending the event.
